Hair Cut for Round Face
Posted by: 2short on Mon, Mar 13th, 2006

When choosing your new haircut style you should consider which styles you like, which styles suit your lifestyle and hair type, but above all — which style of hair cut will look the most flattering on you.

While choosing the right haircut style is ultimately about your personal taste there are some basic rules you should follow. At the top of this list is considering what styles suit your face shape.

If you have found out that you have a round face, remember either to have short hair or chin length hair. You should consider layering your hair right from the top and keep your hair close to your face. Do not cut your hair very, very short and have a haircut that is rounded and ends at your chin. This will exaggerate your face shape even more. Straight bangs are not recommended, but if you love bangs, you should curl them and wear them to the side. These types of hairstyles will make your face look longer, which is what you want to strive for. Do not keep a lot of hair near the sides of your face and near your ears. However, wispy curls curled towards your face is recommendable. The point of all these hairstyles is to make your face look longer and less rounder and to accentuate your beautiful features.

Round faces are characterized by a round chin. Because they lack the length of the oval face, the hair should be cut to create the illusion of length in the face. This is achieved by creating height on top of the head, and minimizing hair width by keeping it flat at the sides and around the ears.

I totally agree with Jayda that it all depends on the individual. I have a round-shaped face and I love to keep my hair really short. While I have been told it's a big no-no, I get compliments anyway. As long you have the confidence to pull it off, you couldn't go wrong!

I have thick dark hair and a reasonably round face. Shorter hair looks better on me. Younger and more free. I love it. Fun side bangs and some layers. But i think it all depends on the individual, not necessarily just the face shape.

long hair brings attention away from the face, creating a longer looking face. short hair, (e.g. jenny mccarthy's new bob) also works on a round face if it is longer than chin length.

AVOID!!! Hair above the chin and blunt, straight across bangs...

i think even every general round head has different feateres that are accented. my sister is a beautition, and she has a very round head, and she cuts her hair chin length, and she looks very beautiful. i think us people with round heads feel belittled by people with long faces, and we shouldn't. we have round heads cause we smile a lot, and we're alot happier. why do you think they say, "why the long face?"
round heads look younger a lot longer too.

this article contradicts itself twice!

1) "remember either to have short hair or chin length hair."
vs. "Do not cut your hair very, very short and have a haircut that is rounded and ends at your chin"

2) "Do not keep a lot of hair near the sides of your face and near your ears. "
"This is achieved by creating height on top of the head, and minimizing hair width by keeping it flat at the sides and around the ears."

This article was obviously not written by a hairdresser, so what validity does it have?

Short uneven and/or short angled bangs work better for my high forehead and round face than long shaggy bangs that many round faced women are encouraged to wear. I've tried both but am sticking to my short angled bangs from now on. They're less irritating too and don't grow too long too fast either.

Whats a good haircut for a heart shaped face?
I need a new haircut rather badly. My hair is really long (about to my mid-back) and it's really thick. It's also straight. If you try to curl it or make it have waves, it will stay for about a half hour or less and then turn back to straight. Oh, yeah, I have a heart-shaped face. So, what would be a good haircut for me? I am looking to not cut my hair that much, I still want to have it be long, cause I like it like that.rnrnAnd if you could include pictures it would be great! If I find the right haircut I need to be able to bring in a picture to the hair dresser :)
