Jessica Simpson in the 'Dukes of Hazzard'

There's nothing hotter right now than waves, & Jessica Simpson's hair in this picture from the 'Dukes of Hazzard' is pretty easy to get -- provided you have long, long hair. (Keep in mind that Simpson's hair here, is not real, these are extensions).

Here's how to mimic this look:

  • Step 1: Apply volumizing tonic to roots. I like Bumble & Bumble or you can try Aveda volumizing tonic .
  • Step 2: Blow dry hair until it's slightly damp. Blowdrying tip: Hold dryer above your head & train air downward so it flows from roots to ends. This way hair won't look dull & will be easier to manage.
  • Step 3: Scrunch hair with fingers.
  • Step 4: Spray in saltwater spray. I like John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea spray .
  • Step 5: Let hair air dry (keep scrunching until it's totally dry)

Voila! Now you have Jessica Simpson's 'By the Sea' look!

there's no way you can achieve this look by scrunching the hair you would need to use large tongs .

Rating: 1.00 how rediculous

Whomever wrote this how-to clearly doesn't dick all about wavy/curly hair

add straightening balm ... use a med. sized barrel brush... blow dry pulling down on hair while carefully re-rolling brush until you reach further than half-way (be careful not to roll the hair around the brush multiple times... it'll be a b*tch to get the brush out, if it gets stuck)

now you just have to curl the ends

wrap your hair around the barrel of a curling iron...separating the sprirals as much as possible (instead of just wrapping around and around the same place)

hold for however long you usually do ( between 5-15 seconds)
and then as you "unspiral" twist the curling iron in the direction the curl is turningand pull downward...

after that finger twirl while pulling down (while hair is still hottish) to get the tendril look...

the products they used were atleast good

you're going to need a finishing gloss/serum though... finger it through totally dry hair twirling as you go...

didn't say it was gonna be easy ;)

I myself am a color tech on baby-leave.. I have long enough hair now and I've tried my hardest to achieve the 'Wavy' look.. Curling just makes my hair sooo bouncy and poofy... It never separates or loosens up enough... Where to find advice? Hmmm... Still searching...

her hair is great, your description is crap, scrunching would make your hair more frizzy and crazy, you would need a large curling iron to get this look....
